Startale Card is a self-custodial Visa card from Startale Group, the team behind the Sony-developed Soneium Layer-2. It was unveiled at WebX 2026 in Tokyo on 13 July 2026. We tested the signup flow through the Startale App's waitlist; the card itself is not yet in general circulation, so this review covers what Startale has confirmed and flags what it has not.Custody and how it works
The headline is custody. Unlike custodial exchange cards, which require you to move funds into the issuer's account before spending, Startale Card lets eligible Soneium holdings stay in your own wallet and keep generating yield until the moment a payment settles. Assets are converted to local currency at checkout and the card runs on Visa, so acceptance covers more than 150 million merchants. This is the same broad model MetaMask Card uses, and it is the card's main reason to exist.
Fees and cashback
Here is where we have to be blunt: Startale has not published a fee schedule. There is no confirmed FX markup, ATM fee, issuance fee, or annual fee, and no stated daily spending limit. The one reward detail Startale has confirmed is that cashback is paid in USDSC, its US-dollar stablecoin, but the rate is not published. Any percentage you see quoted elsewhere is not from Startale and should not be trusted. We will update the data fields the moment official terms appear.
Everyday use and getting in
For now, access is gated by a waitlist inside the Startale App, and your place in line is influenced by your STAR Points balance and referrals. If you already hold assets on Soneium and use the Startale App, joining costs nothing but time. If you don't, there is little to act on until launch. A referral code, EHCOWC69, was supplied to us for this review; we have not been able to verify it against any official Startale page, and CardNode earns nothing from it, use it at your own discretion.

How to get the Startale Visa Platinum Card
- 1Set up a wallet
Go to app.startale.com and create a new Smart Wallet or connect your existing wallet. During sign-up, enter the invite code EHCOWC69 to complete your registration.
- 2Join the card waitlist
Open the Startale Card section in the app and join the waitlist. Your position is influenced by your STAR Points balance and referrals ahead of the public launch.
- 3Complete KYC and activate at launch
When access opens, expect to pass identity verification, then activate your virtual card and order a physical one. Confirm the published fees before funding it.
